Walking

Introduction

A network of long-distance paths criss-cross South East England creating a unique variety of exceptional walking. See Maps and Guides.

Whether you like long hikes, shorter trips or days out, the paths network provides all the options. Combine a short stroll with a visit to a local attraction, country garden, historic house, church or castle.

Stop off at a village pub or teashop if out walking for the day or live it up at a range of quality B&Bs, guesthouses and hotels near the trails, whilst visiting the sights of the South East on a relaxing short break holiday. Or challenge yourself to completing sections of the long distance paths.

You can even enjoy an organised holiday with a variety of different operators who offer everything from a fully guided holiday, led by a local with knowledge of the landscape, wildlife, culture and folklore of the area to share. Or just find a company offering a baggage forwarding service for self-guided holidays, and independent walkers in the South East. Self-guided holidays include pre-booked accommodation, maps, guides and route notes.

The county councils in our region all have information on walks, including a complete list of seasonal guided walks and countryside events, please telephone or view the web sites of the organisations and contacts below:
